I like this attitude. I like it A LOT. Many of my clients come to me as people pleasers. Afraid to ruffle any feathers, they choose instead to quietly resent. Suppressing their inner truth so much that they lose touch with what they actually stand for. They fear that speaking their truth will make people not like them and that is a crushing proposition to many.

The truth is we do need to be respectful of others. AND it’s still possible to speak your truth and have an opinion simultaneously.

Most of the time what stops us from doing so is a mindset of fear.

“Will they think I’m stupid or bossy? Will they reject me?

Those are just a few thoughts floating around the heads of many.

3 things to consider:

What are you so afraid of happening? Get clear on what exactly you think will happen if you speak up and put your truth out in the world. Maybe you think people will think you are stupid or “wrong”. And what if they do? Will your world completely crumble? I can tell you it won’t. Side effects of speaking up and being yourself include feelings of liberation, empowerment and general happiness.

Get cozy with the idea that not everyone is going to like you: There are already people who don’t like you! And it’s OK. There are likely a lot of people who do . The more you act authentically you, the more you will attract the right people in your life in an authentic and real way. None of us are doing anyone favors being fake trying to get people to like us. Be YOU.

Consider the consequences: If you don’t take a stand for yourself, don’t expect anyone to do it for you.  Take responsibility for the way you show up in this world and don’t even think about playing the victim. Remember what I always say, you teach people how to treat you. If it’s respect you are looking for, know that people respect those who take a stand for something and speak their truth.

I’m about you getting exactly what YOU want out of this life. Giving you the clarity, accountability, support and motivation to make it happen.  In my newsletter this week I am sharing the results one of my clients has had in her life since working with me.
